This building was completed in 2010 and received the prestigious award of Five Green Globes – the highest achievement for environmental and energy performance and is equivalent to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum.
Paired with the Charles E. Fipke Centre for Innovative Research, they are the first two campus buildings in the world to each receive Five Green Globes and also the first paired buildings to receive this distinction in 2012. Also, in 2012, Arts and Sciences II received a FortisBC PowerSense New Construction Award.

Completed in 2011, the Engineering, Management and Education building is the largest academic building on campus. It has a green roof and is built to LEED Gold standard. In 2010, EME received a Canadian Construction Association’s Gold Seal Project Award of Recognition. In 2012, it received a FortisBC PowerSense New Construction Award.

This addition to the Gymnasium was completed in 2013. The Fitness and Wellness Centre is known as “The Hanger” due to its design reference to aviation.
This building was completed in 2011 and achieved LEED Gold certification in October, 2013. It is home of UBC’s Southern Medical program. It has the largest green roof on campus which has integrated indigenous plants and vegetation. In 2012, it received a FortisBC PowerSense New Construction Award.

Completed in 2011, this residence is a multi-award winner. It received a FortisBC PowerSense Award for energy efficiency measures in design and construction in 2011. In 2012, it was awarded the Re/Max Thompson Okanagan Commercial Building Award and achieved REAP (Residential Environmental Assessment Program) Gold level certification. Purcell features several sustainable features including a green roof (the only residence on campus with one), solar panels for domestic hot water preheat and space-heating demand, in connection with its own closed loop geo-thermal exchange.
