We are pleased to announce Mr. Anthony Haddad as the inaugural Director, Campus Planning and Development at UBC’s Okanagan campus. Working with campus planning and infrastructure development colleagues in Vancouver, Anthony has responsibility for long-term land use planning including the Okanagan campus master plan, space planning and utilization, operational sustainability and project management services. Anthony’s start date will be November 13, 2014.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Anthony graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 2001 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Urban Planning) degree. After commencing his career in Melbourne, he moved to Canada in 2004 where he began his Canadian planning career in Fort McMurray and then at the City of Calgary for five years where he worked on a number of significant planning projects within the established communities of the City, greenfield development areas and downtown core.
Anthony has been with the City of Penticton for the past five years and led the development of Penticton’s Downtown Plan and now its successful implementation. As Director of Development Services, he helped create a constructive and engaged relationship with citizens, City Council, the development community and professionals. Anthony was responsible for the City’s innovative public engagement strategies for its planning processes, in addition to the creation of the City’s new zoning bylaw, economic investment zone bylaw, area structure plans and community sustainability initiatives.
