John Hindle Drive Construction

Construction of the final phase of John Hindle Drive, a 1.6 km public road connecting Glenmore Road with Highway 97 via UBC's West Campus lands will be commencing in mid-2016. The project will consist of a two-land roadway connecting Highway 97 to Glenmore Road visa the UBC Okanagan campus. It will also include the construction of a multi-use paved pathway for pedestrians and cyclists from Glenmore Road to the Hollywood Road roundabout at Highway 97 near the university campus.

The most significant part of the construction activity impacting the campus for this project will be the activity required at the south end of campus, between the Reichwald Health Sciences Centre, Gymnasium and the University Village development. An 11m (35 ft.) excavation will be occurring to make way for the road alignment, which will impact pedestrian and cycling access from the south and west sides of Campus. No access will be permitted along Curtis Road or the GEID Flume Trail during construction. Alternative pedestrian and cycling routes will be identified over the coming months and communicated with the Campus community in advance of any changes taking place.
